The chamber is filled with required volume of grinding media i.e. beads. The material leakage is prevented by mechanical seal. The material is pumped into the chamber using a pump. The material or the batch to be processed is being aggressively agitated along with the beads. The necessary energy for dispersion and grinding is transmitted to the grinding beads by the agitator discs. The higher degree of collision between beads, agitator discs, materials and tank chamber inside the chamber brings about fine grinding effect. .The mill is fed continuously by the pump. TYPES OF BEAD MILLS

  • The continuous Bead Mill is a compact design with vertical or horizontal cylinder that is suitable for cost effective continuous production of large quantities of materials.
  • The premixed material is pumped from the source and injected into the inlet of the Bead Mill chamber. The inlet of the cylinder lies on the above side of the tank. Material discharge occur at the outlet, present at the bottom of the tank, through a control valve or a discharge pump.
  • The dwell time is fixed by the operator, dwell time is controlled by the pumping rate. When the dwell time is longer, the grinding becomes finer.
  • Suitable sized and shaped beads made up of stainless steel, chrome steel, zirconium oxide, tungsten carbide, ceramic etc. are used as the grinding media.
  • Types of Continuous Bead Mill:
    • Horizontal Bead Mill
    • Vertical Bead Mill
  • Batch type bead mills are similar in design and other feature aspects of continuous bead mill but are devoid of continuous process.
  • In the Batch type Bead Mill, the raw material is fed through the inlet positioned on the top of the chamber. In presence of the suitable beads the raw material is grinded for a predetermined dwell time.
  • The dwell time is fixed by the operator according to the process and material. After the process the material is discharged either by valve or tilting the tank.
